Comsure hosts AML thought leadership seminar

Two pioneers of the Anti Money Laundering and Counter Terrorist Financing sector will be visiting Jersey in conjunction with Comsure. Dr Dionysios Demetis and Professor Michael Mainelli will spend the day with Senior Financial Services delegates to offer insightful thought leadership on Anti Money Laundering (AML) and Counter Terrorist Financing (CTF). It is a rare occurrence that two high calibre individuals are in Jersey and this presents a great opportunity for financial services decision makers. Comsure will be hosting a one-day seminar on 5th November at the Pomme D’Or Hotel from 09:00 until 16:30.

Dr. Demetis specialises in developing training, services and products for AML/CTF needs. He is adjunct professor at the Thomas Jefferson School of Law where he lectures on AML and International Compliance. He has researched AML and CTF extensively for almost a decade, and his research on the AML Risk-Based Approach has been featured in the select-bibliography of the United Nations IMOLIN network. This research also led to his book titled ‘Technology and Anti-Money Laundering’ being published.

Professor Michael Mainelli is the co-founder of Z/Yen, the City of London’s leading commercial think tank. He has a string of accreditations to his name including a PhD, FCCI and FCSI. His education includes prestigious Harvard University and The London School of Economics. He was co-author of the City of London Corporation’s 2005 report “Anti-Money Laundering Requirements: Costs, Benefits and Perceptions” and has received SMART, Foresight and Technology Strategy Board Challenge awards for risk visualisation and prediction.

This seminar is limited to allow interactive face-to-face trainer time, with small training groups which will include interactive e-learning. The course aims to provide participants with a broader learning in order to improve their understanding as well as business infrastructure decisions. Upon completion, a certificate of attendance will be awarded by Comsure and for those who complete an end of day online assessment will also receive an additional certificate from SYNTAX IT & Z/YEN.

The seminar is perfect for a variety of professionals who have been charged with assessing AML risk, devising business strategies and managing firm systems and controls on a day-to-day basis. And significantly the cost of this programme is half that would be paid for a similar event in London.
