Following an earlier consultation the FCA has issued final guidance on its supervisory approach to financial promotions in social media.
The guidance contains:
• Examples of acceptable and unacceptable financial promotions;
• Examples of when a firm would and would not be responsible for how its financial promotions are used by recipients; and
• Description of how firms are expected to comply with existing rules on risk warnings, unsolicited promotions and approval and record-keeping, in a social media context.
