The joint Cybercrime Action Taskforce (J-CAT), an initiative of the European Cybercrime Centre, the US’ Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the UK’s National Crime Agency (NCA) to tackle cybercrime internationally has been launched.
It will be led by the Deputy Director of the NCA’s national cyber crime unit and has members from around the globe. The J-CAT, which is being piloted for six months, will coordinate international investigations with partners working together to take action against cybercrime threats, such as underground forums, malware and online fraud. In addition, the J-CAT will organise dedicated consultation meetings with key players in the private sector to obtain their input on cybercrime and the threats they face.
