Benefit cheats have been warned that they will face ‘robust’ investigation after it was revealed that nearly £2.1 million of welfare was wrongly claimed in the last five years.

The Social Security department paid out a seven-figure sum in incorrectly and fraudulently claimed benefits between 2009 and 2013.

But the department’s fraud team say that they are like ‘Rottweiler’s’ in making sure that money wrongly given out is repaid.

It comes after Social Security Minister Francis Le Gresley gave a breakdown of incorrect claims made in the last five years in response to a written question by St John Constable Phil Rondel.
