Relevant businesses should be preparing for the arrival of the Ombudsman.
The Appointed Day Act brings into force Articles 20, 21 and 22 of the primary law.
These Articles allow for
- The opening of necessary information gateways, for example between the Ombudsman and the JFSC.
- General information and guidance about, for example, its procedures, complaints, determinations and patterns of complaints indicating contravention of JFSC requirements.
Still not in force.
- The parts of the primary law which will enable the Ombudsman to handle complaints and make determinations are still not in force.
What to do
- It is expected that letters, emails and phone calls should follow guidance on informing customers of the Ombudsman, straightaway, when this is introduced.
- The Ombudsman has indicated an expectation that pre-printed materials will comply by 1 January 2016.
